Turbo Headers

High
exhaust gas temperatures, high exhaust pressure, cramped engine compartments and
the complexity of turbocharged applications pose extreme challenges for exhaust
headers. In an attempt to overcome these challenges, many header builders have
resorted to using thick gauged tubing and pipe to fabricate exhaust manifolds.
Though this may be ok in a street application, it is not acceptable practice for
a serious race application due to the high weight penalty. The good news is that
durable, light-weight turbo-exhaust manifolds can be made using proper
materials, design principles and fabrication techniques. MORE

Why
Stainless Steel?
Stainless steel is a material that
we wish never was labeled "stainless" because it can do so much more than simply
resist rust. The origins of stainless steel date back to the early 1900s when an
English metallurgist developed a type of steel for making knives that would not
rust. Technically, "Stainless Steel" is strictly a trade name applied to what
are known as corrosion-resistant steels. It is a fabulous material that
outperforms mild and alloy steels in so many different applications in racing
that no other material can match it, and all racers should consider it as a
vital element in their fabricating efforts. MORE... |
Since 1989, Pratt and Miller Engineering has
supplied race engineering services to customers in ALMS, FIA GT, NASCAR, Grand
AM, Speed World Challenge. Most recently, Pratt and Miller, Katech and Corvette Racing successfully
campaigned the C5R and C6R Corvette race cars in the ALMS series and the FIA Le
Mans 24-hour races. This partnership has resulted in 76 international racing
victories, 8 ALMS championships and 5 24-Hour Le Mans class wins. Having
recently introduced their own C6RS street cars, Pratt and Miller
is now offering race-winning engineering to the enthusiast.
Pratt and Miller choose Burns Stainless products for their
race winning cars because they get quality that they can trust to go the whole
way. Additionally, when they order, they know what they are going to get, the
best! And it helps that everything is made in the USA, "Thanks for that!" When
asked What do they believe is their greatest achievement as an organization?
"Winning Daytona overall is probably the greatest achievement, but winning Le
Mans 5 times makes it hard to
choose." | |
