Johnson Brings it Home

HOMESTEAD, FL - Denny Hamlin drove a great race winning the Ford 400, but the real news on Sunday was Jimmie Johnson's record 4th straight Sprint Cup Championship. "How 'bout some history," Johnson exclaimed. Finishing in 5th place, Johnson ended the season 141 points ahead of teammate Mark Martin.
Only Richard Petty and the late Dale Earnhardt have won more championships with 7 each. Martin, though never claiming a championship, has finished 2nd five times. "There is no frustration," Martine said. "You'd like there to be, but there isn't."
The other winner was Rick Hendrick. With Jeff Gordon finishing 3rd in points, Hendrick is the first team owner to sweep the top 3 points positions. With his niece, Alesha Gainey facing an emergency liver transplant in North Carolina, team owner Rick Hendrick wasn't at Homestead to celebrate.
